CaRaVaN on the Patio – Open Mic
We’re back and in person! With some restrictions lifting as cases go down and vaccination numbers rise in Winnipeg, it feels safe to move back to outdoor gatherings on Monday nights. Starting July 26 and going throughout the rest of the summer, CaRaVaN will be back on the beautiful patio of our friends over at X-Cues Café & Lounge.
Sign up will begin around 6:30 PM, with performances starting right at 7 and going until 9:15 PM. There will be a maximum of 10 performance slots per night (plus the host), and unfortunately, we can’t guarantee later spots if you’re unable to be there before the show starts. Musicians can perform 2 songs, while poets, comedians, improvisers, dancers, and others will get ~5 minutes.
Current public health orders allow for 50% capacity on the X-Cues patio with tables distanced. Masks are required indoors while not seated, so please bring along a mask for: walking through the building to get to the patio, going inside to order food/drinks, using the washroom, or heading out. There’s a max of 8 people per table on the patio, and you should stay seated when not performing, ordering, or using the facilities. Thanks in advance for helping to keep things safe and not making things difficult for our friends at X-Cues.
Note that we will be live streaming our in-person shows on Facebook and YouTube, which will also be viewable later on. Please let us know when signing up if you’d prefer not to be on camera, and we will turn off the feed during your performance.
CaRaVaN is a weekly “Anything Goes” open mic that began in late 2011. Music of all genres, spoken word, comedy, magic, dance, storytelling, or any other number of other unique performances could hit the stage on any given Monday. CaRaVaN regularly features artists with a wide range of skill levels — from experienced performers trying out new things to folks taking the stage for the first time — and we welcome them all!
CaRaVaN is volunteer-run, and is entirely funded by donations, sponsorships, grants, and the organizers’ own funds if needed. Every event is always free, but donations are certainly welcome, and can help us with costs such as new equipment, advertising, web hosting, and graphics.
