About Them

Can you please fully explain your business or product line?

I create hand-poured 100% soy candles and melts, crafted with care in Stonewall, MB. I also offer beautiful artisan soaps, moisturizing foam hand wash, luxury lip balm, and soon-to-be-released room/body spray with more products to come!

My products complement any decor, and are simple, yet pretty, offering fun & creativity when the occasion calls for it! I take pride in using Canadian ingredients as well as premium oils and butters.

With the Winnipeg local maker community continuing to grow, what is the most important thing you’d like potential customers of your company to know?

I want them to know that I truly love every product I make/create! I enjoy every single second of it! I learn, test, try, and repeat until I am satisfied enough to offer the end product to my customers. I take pride in using 100% soy for my candles to be environmentally sustainable, ethically produced, and cruelty-free. I am always thinking of the next candle to create or the next product to offer!

A clean, sanitized workspace and using quality Canadian ingredients are very important to me. If it’s not good enough for my family, it’s not good enough for my customers.

What inspired you to start your business?

My inspiration came from my teenage son and a little bit of boredom! Both of us, being candle lovers, began researching and testing what it would take to create a great-smelling, quality, clean-burning candle. Candle-making quickly became my passion and creative outlet which led to an interest in learning about and creating more & more products.

What was the biggest struggle you’ve had to overcome?

Worrying about the future and keeping this little handmade business that I love so much going! I tell myself to take it one month at a time and enjoy the process. As long as I’m enjoying it and my customers are happy with my products, then all is okay!

What has been your biggest success as a maker?

My candles! My time and testing have paid off! Most of all, my customers are my greatest success because they love my candles, which then gives me the confidence to try creating other products for them.

Do you have any advice that you would pass on to someone hoping to start up their own business or product line?

Be patient with yourself if something doesn’t work out the first, second, or third time…don’t give up on it! Instead, take a break and come back to it later, whether it’s in two weeks or six months!

Please share any upcoming events as well as the best place(s) for people to purchase your product!

I love to attend various markets around the Interlake as well as in Winnipeg. Keep an eye on my social media to find out where we will be next!

Products can also be ordered on my website or by sending me a DM on my socials.

In-person, my candles can be found at Interlake Kneads Massage Therapy, Sugar Lips, and Something Beautiful, all located in Stonewall.
