About Them

Can you please fully explain your business or product line?

At chaotic kitchen, you will find a variety of pickles, jams/sauces, and preserves made from what I’ve grown in my own garden or can source locally from farms around our property, just west of Winnipeg.

There is also the occasional meal pop-up where we custom-make meal orders ranging from appetizers and snacks to family meals and desserts.

With the Winnipeg local maker community continuing to grow, what is the most important thing you’d like potential customers of your company to know?

Chaotic kitchen strives to use only the freshest, local ingredients in our products. The majority of the vegetables used in our pickled products, hot sauces, and condiments are grown in my own garden. If I cannot grow it, I buy the produce from local producers and farmers no further than 10km from my property.

What inspired you to start your business?

I love being in the kitchen. It’s my stress management and my happy place as well as where all of our guests gather and stay; it’s the most popular place in the house. I have a cross stitch that was passed down from my grandma that says, “no matter where I serve my guests, it seems they like the kitchen best” and that holds true to everything I do with food.

Food brings people together and I love every aspect of that. With the land that we have, I have always dreamed of a massive garden and producing my own sauces and things…now I can finally fulfill that.

What was the biggest struggle you’ve had to overcome?

Time management and follow through. I’m not a big business just yet and only friends & close acquaintances have had my products. I’ve been very lucky thus far to only have to deal with personal struggles, not big business ones yet.

What has been your biggest success as a maker?

How much my products are enjoyed and how much people request more! My heart swells to know I’m making people’s tummies happy and that the products are something the public would actually want to purchase.

Do you have any advice that you would pass on to someone hoping to start up their own business or product line?

Just go for it. It will be tough at first but once the operation is running smoothly, you’ll feel so accomplished and proud. Perseverance is key.

Also, remember that it’s rare to find quick success. Take pride in your work and don’t rush things. Ensure quality over quantity and don’t get over your head into things.

Please share any upcoming events as well as the best place(s) for people to purchase your product!

My products can be viewed and ordered through my Instagram page. Custom orders are welcome for certain things and others are in stock until sold out!

Meal kits can be custom ordered as well and you can inquire about options. I am also happy to work with you on designing a menu to suit your needs and preferences!
