Can you please fully explain your business or product line?

Filthy Little Thing Soap Co. is a handcrafted soap company dedicated to those that enjoy the alternative, dark, and obscure. We create products that embrace spookiness all year long. From soaps that bleed red to our unique fragrances, and our specialty skulls, anatomical hearts, and tombstone-shaped soaps, we strive to be as unique as those we cater to.

With the Winnipeg local maker community continuing to grow, what is the most important thing you’d like potential customers of your company to know?

At Filthy Little Thing, our products are made with high-quality oils and butters, ensuring every product is premium. All of our products are made in small batches as well as being free of palm oil, cruelty-free, and vegan. As an eco-friendly brand, our packaging is plastic-free and delivered in recyclable materials.

What inspired you to start your business?

Handcrafted soap has numerous benefits from the ingredient selections to the ability to select the benefits for your skin, but there was always one thing missing in this industry; the creative, dark-inspired lines for those who enjoy horror and the obscure.

What was the biggest struggle you’ve had to overcome?

The biggest struggle has been navigating the cost of shipping while aiming to keep our product line affordable. We’ve had the pleasure of working with customers all over Canada as well as outside of Canada, so shipping costs are always on our radar!

What has been your biggest success as a maker?

Seeing Filthy Little Thing in other small businesses! While we will always remain an online boutique, we have had great interest to carry the FLT product line in brick and mortar stores including a boutique in New Zealand! 

Do you have any advice that you would pass on to someone hoping to start up their own business or product line?

Be patient, research your industry/product, and start small — you always have time to grow!

Pamela Roz has spent the last 15 years as a radio broadcaster including in classic rock, adult contemporary, top 40, nostalgia, and country formats. While honing the craft of radio, Pamela has grown her own publicity business, Pamela Roz PR. Since 2011, she has helped Manitoba-based artists/bands, theatre companies, events, organizations, and charities gain media coverage as well as enhance their online presence and grow their public followings (both on and offline). Under “other skills/passions”, you will find voiceover, journalism, interviewing, event planning, and event hosting. Pamela also continues to build her skills in journalism (which she majored in through Red River College's Creative Communications program), as well as social media, voiceover, interviewing, event planning, event hosting and radio tracking.
