About Them

Can you please fully explain your business or product line?

I have a line of low-carb baking mixes that are made from natural, locally sourced, organic ingredients that are free from gluten, with no added sugar. My mixes support those following a gluten-free, diabetic, or low-carb/keto lifestyle.

With the Winnipeg local maker community continuing to grow, what is the most important thing you’d like potential customers of your company to know?

My mixes are very versatile with numerous recipes for each baking mix posted on my website. My mixes are easy to use and deliver tasty results that are so good, it’s often hard to tell them from their gluten counterparts!

They are cost-effective and save you time so you can enjoy more time with family and friends. I source ingredients and buy local as much as possible because doing so helps our local economy.

What inspired you to start your business?

I am Italian and grew up cooking and baking in the kitchen with my mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother. My mom became ill which led me to research the benefits of healing with food. Seeing her results, I switched to a Keto lifestyle about six years ago.

I love baking and began creating recipes for myself that were low-carb through trial and error until I got them right. I would often share my low-carb baking with family and friends who would comment about how much they enjoyed them and that they would like to eat lower carb, but it was too difficult to look up recipes and source ingredients only to have the food come out less than desirable. This lead to wanting to make dietary change easier and more sustainable for others.

What was the biggest struggle you’ve had to overcome?

Failure in the kitchen. I am a perfectionist and sometimes it takes many changes/adjusting ingredients over & over again to get it just right. My one-bowl bread mix is so easy to make but took me nine months to develop!

What has been your biggest success as a maker?

My customers and their stories. It warms my heart to hear how having my cake mix handy makes it easy for a mom to send her daughter to a birthday party with a GF cupcake in a few minutes, a person with diabetes that is so happy to see a no added sugar baked good at a market, or someone that has lost over 100lbs and is grateful for my keto mixes that make baking easier.

Gluten allergens, diabetes, and above-average weight are on the rise in our North American society and I want to have a positive impact by being a part of the solution.

Do you have any advice that you would pass on to someone hoping to start up their own business or product line?

Keep going even when you want to quit. The hours are long and at times you’ll feel like you are so far from your goals, but every failure is a step closer to your success. Don’t give up!

Please share any upcoming events as well as the best place(s) for people the purchase your product!

I will be at the East St. Paul Market on December 18th as well as at the St. Norbert’s Farmers Market every other Sunday.

Any other events will be posted on my website and my social media.
