About Them

Can you please fully explain your business or product line?

BounceBack Botanical Boutique is a one-stop-shop for handcrafted floral and botanical jewelry, home décor, lip care, and more. All products are carefully and lovingly made with materials intentionally purchased as locally as possible. BounceBack’s Etsy Shop is restocked with one-of-a-kind items on a regular basis, making each individual item just as unique and wonderful as the person who receives it. BounceBack’s products allow for beauty and self-care to be incorporated into regular routines with only one visit.

My name is Jayda and I am the sole owner/creator behind BounceBack Botanical Boutique. I have been obsessed with all kinds of jewelry for as long as I can remember and, despite environmental allergies, I have always loved the outdoors, flowers, and botanicals for the natural beauty they possess. I began creating one-of-a-kind, handcrafted, floral, and botanical resin jewelry as a creative outlet and opened my Etsy shop at the end of 2019.

My business has now expanded with continued creativity and the incredible support of an amazing customer base. I now also create organic beeswax candles and wax melts, floral paintings, real fruit jewelry, lip care products, home decor, and varying accessories! The name came to fruition as this business and ultimate creative freedom allowed me to bounce back from many hard times in my life. I hope you can find something from my shop to help you or your loved ones bounce back from hard times, too.

With the Winnipeg local maker community continuing to grow, what is the most important thing you’d like potential customers of your company to know?

Items purchased from my Black-owned shop are one of a kind and handmade with extreme care and love. When purchasing from my shop, you are not only supporting me in living my dream, but you are also enabling me to give back my time, energy, and money directly to the community and to those who are in need of support. Supplies are intentionally purchased as locally as possible allowing each purchase to be an overall feel-good experience.

What inspired you to start your business?

I experienced a series of sexual assaults in 2019 which resulted in PTSD, as well as depressive episodes and intense anxiety attacks which prevented me from leaving my home. I was then fired from my retail job at the time and was left with no option, but to fully monetize my art, jump blindly into this field, and hope that things would work out. The idea came from art being a way of bouncing back from hard times which continued to follow me.

What was the biggest struggle you’ve had to overcome?

The biggest struggle I’ve had to overcome is feeling like my art and creations are not good enough. Like they are not worthy of support in any aspect and thus I am not worthy of support. This is something I still struggle with, but work through every day.

What has been your biggest success as a maker?

My biggest success is making things that allow people to feel something. Things that allow them to feel better whenever they glance upon or use the pieces purchased from me. Things that help them bounce back from the day-to-day hard times we all inevitably experience.

Do you have any advice that you would pass on to someone hoping to start up their own business or product line?

Stay true to who you are at all times. It can be easy to stray and get caught up in likes, shares, trends, and sales, but remember that as long as you are creating the things you want and genuinely like, the support will come and you’ll attract the people, customers, and clients who are meant to be in your path.

Please share any upcoming events as well as the best place(s) for people the purchase your product!
