About Them

Can you please fully explain your business or product line?

JAYSiX is known for my popular, cozy Official Campfire Hoodie! I design all of my hoodies with a leisurely style in mind. I have the hoodies screen printed for the best quality and then I hand tint the hoodies to give them all a unique one-of-a-kind look!

With the Winnipeg local maker community continuing to grow, what is the most important thing you’d like potential customers of your company to know?

My hoodies are cozy and unisex-sized allowing me to fit customers up to size 5XL! Each piece is hand-tinted so that every hoodie is unique and keeps my customers coming back for more.

What inspired you to start your business?

I started my business as a custom design business during 2020 when stores were shut down due to the rising numbers of COVID cases. I designed and sold hoodies as a side business where people could order and do curbside pick up. I designed the Official Campfire Hoodie at this time. It became a popular choice and still is!

What was the biggest struggle you’ve had to overcome?

The biggest struggle that I’ve had to overcome would be trying to get to markets in a vehicle that is not big enough…I need a van! I would love to be everywhere at once but I can only do so much in so little time. My struggle is also to learn to take a bit of time for myself when I get a chance.

What has been your biggest success as a maker?

My biggest success has been the popularity of my Official Campfire Hoodie. The compliments on my designs and my repeat customers have been overwhelming! I am now selling in many places throughout Manitoba and meeting such great people & other Makers. I have learned a lot and have now made this business into my full-time job! I appreciate every sale and love when I spot one of my hoodies on a customer. I could not ask for more!

Do you have any advice that you would pass on to someone hoping to start up their own business or product line?

Find something unique, something people can’t just find anywhere. There will be some challenges but you cannot be successful if you don’t try and try again.

Please share any upcoming events as well as the best place(s) for people to purchase your product!

I sell my products through a few places in Manitoba including L.O.V.E. in the Garden City Shopping Centre (which has been a dream to work with and offer delivery in Winnipeg). I have also been selling in The Outlet Collection Mall this first week in November through The Locals Pop Up. Watch me for more locations coming soon!

Other locations throughout Manitoba include Brandon – Mainly Manitoba (Shopper’s Mall), Dauphin – Sydor’s Farm & Garden (Dauphin Market Place Mall), and soon in Sanford – The Petite Greenhouse (during Christmas months).
