Can you please fully explain your business or product line?

I’m Jenna, the Owner & Founder of Bright Soul Designs – offering the highest quality unique statement earrings and home decor. My goal with Bright Soul Designs is to share my creative expression in a positive and thoughtful way.

With the Winnipeg local maker community continuing to grow, what is the most important thing you’d like potential customers of your company to know?

Crafted with care, each piece is named after a person, conversation, or memory that uplifts and empowers me – sparking joy, admiration, and gratitude in my process. May the positive intentions with which each piece is named brighten your light as they have mine.

What inspired you to start your business?

As a child, I always wanted to have an accessory store. Fast forward to 2019, I was on maternity leave with a three-month-old, and my other child wanted to gift his then grade 2 teacher earrings for Christmas. I decided to try my hand at earrings and make her something special. My son helped design a special pair just for her. That’s how I started!

What was the biggest struggle you’ve had to overcome?

Believing in myself right from the get-go. I’ve never considered myself to be a ‘crafty’ or ‘artsy’ person, so when I decided I was going to make earrings and home decor with clay as a medium, I had to hype myself up. I didn’t realize that I had an inner dialogue that would say I couldn’t be artsy because I never was before; I was getting in my own way, simply because of the stories I was telling myself!

What has been your biggest success as a maker?

Failing and not giving up! There have been different moments throughout my experience when I could’ve called it. Instead, I knew that this was a path I should be walking down, listening to my heart, and just trying something new.

Do you have any advice that you would pass on to someone hoping to start up their own business or product line?

Start! Try it out. Share the passion and first attempts at whatever you’re doing with your friends and family.
