Business Name: Little Glass Cuts Website: N/A Established: 2020 Questions answered by: Maddison Carter-Plouffe
Can you please fully explain your business or product line?
Little Glass Cuts specializes in making stained-glass suncatchers. Each piece is carefully handmade with love in a little basement studio.
This line of suncatchers features some funky and colourful pieces to brighten up any space!
With the Winnipeg local maker community continuing to grow, what is the most important thing you’d like potential customers of your company to know?
Each piece is designed and completely hand-made by myself in my own basement! As a full-time teacher, I do this on the side because I enjoy creating art and making people happy.
What inspired you to start your business?
My mémère does stained-glass, so she taught me everything I know. I started working on this during the pandemic when I had some free time and I had so many suncatchers accumulating, I decided to sell them!
What was the biggest struggle you’ve had to overcome?
Trying to stay organized! Running a business on Instagram makes it hard to keep track of orders sometimes.
What has been your biggest success as a maker?
I’ve gained 500 followers and my business has only been open for just over a month. I’ve gotten so much great feedback and have been featured on the Peg City Thrift website.
We’re so grateful every day at how busy we’ve been and can’t thank Winnipeggers enough for all of their support.
Do you have any advice that you would pass on to someone hoping to start up their own business or product line?
Just do it!!! I struggled with getting the confidence to sell my products, but it has been so worth it.
Please share any upcoming events as well as the best place(s) for people to purchase your product!
I am currently starting some spring pieces that will be sold on Peg City Thrift.
