About Them

Can you please fully explain your business or product line?

Hudson + Co is a handmade children’s clothing company that focuses on stylish and comfortable clothes! Each piece is handcrafted and one-of-a-kind.

Fabric is chosen from Canadian companies and artists, as Hudson + Co strives to support local businesses. The designs chosen show a love for animals and nature.

Sizes are available in newborn to 5T. Larger sizes can be made through custom orders.

With the Winnipeg local maker community continuing to grow, what is the most important thing you’d like potential customers of your company to know?

Hudson + Co is made by a mother inspired when shopping for her son, Hudson, became a struggle to find cute clothes that were also comfortable. Now, any child can wear cute comfortable clothes that they can play in all day! Hudson + Co focuses on gender-neutral prints for all boys and girls to enjoy.

When you shop at Hudson + Co, you’re helping support a family, as well as an animal sanctuary with all designs made at Ledwich Family Farm Animal Sanctuary.

What inspired you to start your business?

I started Hudson + Co when I found it hard to find cute clothes for my son. The market of handmade clothes was saturated with floral print and, although beautiful, they weren’t my boys’ cup of tea. At first, I just made for my own children, but others wanted items so my company was born!

What was the biggest struggle you’ve had to overcome?

As a work at home mom, sometimes the work-life balance can be a struggle. I always put my children first, so there are days where items just have to go on the back burner.

What has been your biggest success as a maker?

My biggest success has been putting my energy into something I’m passionate about; I’ve been able to help my family and be happy with what I do everyday.

Do you have any advice that you would pass on to someone hoping to start up their own business or product line?

You should know your own limits when starting a business knowing how much energy you can put into the work without over extending yourself. It’s so easy to go above and beyond when it’s something you’re passionate about, but that can quickly turn into burnout. The last thing I’d want anyone to do is hate something they once loved.

Please share any upcoming events as well as the best place(s) for people to purchase your product!

The best place to shop right now is on our Etsy; keep an eye on social media for any upcoming events as they may be allowed.
