Can you please fully explain your business or product line?

We at Nourish are proud to provide our customers with handmade bath, body, and hair care that they can feel good about using. All of our products are made with ingredients that are great for your skin and hair; we never use harsh chemicals or irritants.

Everything is made in small batches with lots of love and attention to ensure the highest level of quality. We make, label, pack & ship all of our products ourselves and are always passionate about providing our customers with a great experience.

With the Winnipeg local maker community continuing to grow, what is the most important thing you’d like potential customers of your company to know?

Nourish is a healthier, more environmentally-friendly alternative to the many varieties of mass-produced bath & body products available today. Commercial products found in supermarkets often contain harmful chemicals such as sodium laureth sulfate, parabens, BHA, and petroleum by-products. Our products have none of those harsh ingredients, which are known to cause skin, eye, and lung irritations, allergic reactions and even cancer! 

We believe that you should be able to use these products as often as you want without sacrificing your skin’s health.

What inspired you to start your business?

After being a stay-at-home mom for three years, Becca decided to take up soap-making as a hobby in order to make natural products for her children. She started giving her soaps away as gifts until almost everyone was telling her that she should be selling them. 

In early 2020, she and her husband Misha joined forces and Nourish was born. Since then, Nourish has grown into a small, local brand that Manitobans love.

What was the biggest struggle you’ve had to overcome?

The biggest struggle for us so far is time. There never seems to be enough of it in a day to run a small business, take care of two young boys, and work another full time job. 

We try to go with the flow and we’re always learning. Managing time and overcoming obstacles is always a challenging part of running a successful business.

What has been your biggest success as a maker?

Our biggest success since we’ve started this business just over a year ago is how much we’ve grown. The amount of support we’ve gotten from our customers has been overwhelming, but greatly appreciated. We adore the fact that they love a product we provide to them and take great pride in doing just that.

Do you have any advice that you would pass on to someone hoping to start up their own business or product line?

Make sure you’re very passionate about what you make or provide. Starting a business is difficult, but if you enjoy what you’re doing and are passionate about the product/service that you provide, then it makes overcoming the obstacles a lot more bearable.
