About Them

Can you please fully explain your business or product line?

We create laser cut & engraved wood items like coasters, wall art, puzzles & even some store displays for other small businesses.

We also carry a full line of awesome Brumate insulated drinkware that we personalize with our own designs or custom-make, either laser engraved for that forever thing or using premium decal for the long term commitment-phobes.

Finally, we customize hoodies & tees, but without the laser; that went badly! Maybe some day, though, since lasers are super cool.

With the Winnipeg local maker community continuing to grow, what is the most important thing you’d like potential customers of your company to know?

We work with our customers to make their orders perfect. We love trying new things while learning how to improve on & expand what we’re already doing. Plus, we love hearing people snort & laugh at our stock designs and always have so much fun at markets because we have the best customers.

We are definitely the “best Brumate dealer in MB” (thanks Mom!)

What inspired you to start your business?

We’ve always loved making things, fixing things, figuring out how to do things ourselves. When we started out, it was hard to find sarcastic, sweary, funny things for ourselves, so we’d make them! That moved on to gifts to people wanting to buy things we made and snowballed from there.

What was the biggest struggle you’ve had to overcome?

Time management for sure; we’re still working on this one. Balancing life with work, plus the side hustle is hard! We are accepting tips from anyone who has mastered this, plus getting nine hours of sleep every night.

Also accepting tips in general…just need to find a jar.

What has been your biggest success as a maker?

Repeat customers for sure! We’ve established a solid customer base of hilarious people whom we love from the bottom of our cold, black hearts.

Do you have any advice that you would pass on to someone hoping to start up their own business or product line?

Starting up a business takes a ton of time & work, and overnight successes don’t really exist. Keep at it every time you want to quit.

Shopping local and supporting small businesses has become popular in recent years and now is the best time to start your business. Make connections in your community with other makers and stick with it as you figure out how to brand your products & increase your traffic!

Please share any upcoming events as well as the best place(s) for people to purchase your product!

We’re mostly online right now, but we’ll be at the Lac du Bonnet Farmers’ Market every Saturday from May long – September long weekend. Tons of fantastic vendors at the market & beautiful lakes make it worth the trip from anywhere in MB
