About Them

Can you please fully explain your business or product line?

I design cork jewelry for adults and kids. My main product line is the ‘inspire’ bracelets, made with 3mm round cork cording and a magnetic clasp for easy on/off application. The ‘inspire’ part comes from using a variety of over 100 charms with inspiring messages and quotes.

I also design thin band (10mm) and wideband (20 mm) bracelets, earrings, and necklaces.

With the Winnipeg local maker community continuing to grow, what is the most important thing you’d like potential customers of your company to know?

I started my line with the need to spread more kindness after working with a student who attempted suicide because of bullying. When you purchase a piece of Be Kind jewelry, you receive a ‘be kind’ charm to remind you that “if you can be anything in this world, be kind”.

A portion of sales also goes to Kids Help Phone, an organization that is dedicated to being there for kids and youth any time they need to reach out.

What inspired you to start your business?

Please see above!

What was the biggest struggle you’ve had to overcome?

Technology! LOL

What has been your biggest success as a maker?

The message of kindness getting out there, and all the support from family, friends and, of course, the customers.

Do you have any advice that you would pass on to someone hoping to start up their own business or product line?

Follow your heart, don’t give up, and be organised.

Please share any upcoming events (virtual for the time being, of course) as well as the best place(s) for people to purchase your product!

I just recently launched my online store where a customer can design their own ‘inspire’ charm bracelet and/or purchase other cork designs.

Products can also be found at Little Tree Hugger Bath and Boutique, Ray Gift and Thrift, Brew Teas, and MainlyManitoba.
