About Them
Can you please fully explain your business or product line?
100% natural handmade bath, body, and Aromatherapy products using whole, sustainably sourced ingredients. Through Vintage Blends, I strive to provide options that nourish our bodies and minds, while promoting respect for ourselves, our communities, and our environment. Simple, natural ingredients empower us to make choices that make a difference.
With the Winnipeg local maker community continuing to grow, what is the most important thing you’d like potential customers of your company to know?
I studied Aromatherapy through the West Coast Institute of Aromatherapy and created Vintage Blends Aromatherapy in 2006. All of the products I create are done so with both the knowledge I acquired during my studies and my 15+ years of blending. Providing healthy, natural options is my passion, and I will never compromise on the quality of my ingredients. Customer satisfaction is my number 1 goal.
What inspired you to start your business?
I was interested in using as many natural products in my life as possible. When I began my studies, these were not as easy to come by. Throughout my education, I created blends to aid people with various issues. As I did so, I became more and more aware of just how helpful Aromatherapy and natural products can be, so I decided to try selling them at the Farmers Market. As time went on, providing an environmentally friendly option also became very important to me.
What was the biggest struggle you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest struggle I’ve had to face is trying to educate people on what “natural” really means and why it is so important. Thankfully, more and more people are taking the time to ask questions and make informed choices about the products they use.
What has been your biggest success as a maker?
I think my biggest success is the positive feedback I get from customers. That, and lasting 15 years so far!
Do you have any advice that you would pass on to someone hoping to start up their own business or product line?
Go with your passion, and always choose integrity over everything else.
Please share any upcoming events (virtual for the time being, of course) as well as the best place(s) for people to purchase your product!
