Jets vs Flames Preview (Feb 1, 2021)
The Winnipeg Jets will host the Calgary Flames tonight at 7:00 pm, in the middle of their 7 game homestand, where they are 2-2-0 at BellMTS Place so far. Tonight’s game is the first of 4 games in a row that the Jets will see the Flames, this will be the only time Winnipeg will have to go up against the same team in 4 straight.
Winnipeg did make marks in the win column after their last 3 regular-season games versus Calgary. Even though these victories only came by 1 goal, the Jets hold a 6-4-0 record against the Flames in their last 10 regular-season matchups. In 7 of the 10 games, the losing side was limited to 1 goal or less.
Leading all currently active players on the Jets roster versus the Calgary Flames in scoring with 27 goals in 57 games, Paul Stastny will look to be aggressive come puck drop. His shooting percentage in these games was 21.8%, so you can imagine he will be fed the puck a few times by his teammates.
Captain Blake Wheeler has seen Calgary 22 times so far in his career and has managed a total of 20 points (7G, 13A) in all those battles.
In his last three regular-season starts, goaltender Connor Hellebuyck has a save percentage of 0.94% and holds a very impressive record against Calgary of 6-2-0.
Winnipeg is scheduled to play 9 separate back-to-backs during this season, tonight being the team’s third. In game one of their back-to-backs they sit at 1-1-0.
Milestone Watch
Kyle Connor will look to pass Evander Kane’s 109 franchise goals. Kane currently holds the spot of 10th in franchise history scoring. Connor needs just 1 goal to take the spot from the former Jet.
Tonight may potentially be the game where Connor Hellebuyck can pass Ondrej Pavelec for most victories by a goalie for the organization. Hellebuyck is tied with Pavelec for the record with 152 victories, and a win for last season’s Vezina Trophy recipient will see him take the reins on his own.
Projected Lineup
