Jets vs Oilers Preview (Jan 26, 2021)
Losing Sunday night’s game during the expiring seconds against the Edmonton Oilers, the Winnipeg Jets will have a high level of intensity heading into tonight’s contest at BellMTS Place.
The Jets were behind 2-1 during the third period Sunday night but managed to score twice to give themselves a 3-2 lead. However, the Oilers prevailed by scoring two times late before the final buzzer, the last of which being netted with just 1 second left on the clock by Leon Draisaitl, allowing the Oilers to leave victorious (4-3).
The Jets need to enter this game tonight with some urgency. With an opportunity to even out the back to back at 1 game apiece, Winnipeg will look to avoid a home-ice sweep. Starting the season with a 4 and 2 record, Winnipeg will want to come out strong, fast and defensive against the Edmonton squad who look to make it 2 wins in a row in their trip to Winnipeg.
Head Coach Paul Maurice was not unhappy about how his team played. He hopes the team learned a few lessons from the loss and expects them to be poised and ready to even out this series.
Connor Hellebuyck will have the start tonight for the Jets in goal after Laurent Brossoit got the go-ahead nod for Sunday night’s game. See below for the full projected line-up.
Winnipeg will have their hands full once again and will have to be on top of covering Draisaitl and McDavid as the two Oilers were the ones who put Edmonton in a position to earn a win away from Rogers Place.
Projected Lineup
