About Them

Can you please fully explain your business or product line?

Happy Dance Hummus is a Manitoban company that just turned 5 years old! What began as a small adventure of selling one flavour of hummus at a farmers’ market has now flourished into a thriving business, selling six flavours to almost 40 stores in Manitoba, and still growing!

We love creating new and distinctive flavours of healthy and wholesome hummus – all vegan and gluten/dairy-free.

With the local maker community continuing to grow, what makes you stand out from the rest?

Happy Dance Hummus uses real ingredients to create real flavour with no added preservatives. Our product is not overly processed or bland, and it is frozen the moment it is made and is therefore shelf-stable. You can keep several flavours in your freezer to pull out at any time, and never get bored!

What made you realize that you had a product that could be shared with others?

When the demand for our home recipe became out of control, we realized we were on to a winner, so we decided to start selling it. After selling out at our very first market, we knew we had a viable business.

What has been your biggest success as a maker? Biggest struggle you’ve overcome?

We were the recipient of the Best New Product of 2018 Award through the MB Food and Beverage Association. We also won the Silver Medal in the Great Manitoba Food Fight. Our company incorporated in October of 2019.

Biggest struggle would be scaling up to the increased demands of production.

Any advice that you would tell someone hoping to start up their own business or product line?

Dream BIG and work hard!

Please share any upcoming events (physical events, virtual sales, etc.) that you think Winnipeggers would be interested in!

We are doing an online “Happy” Holidays promo for December – frozen “happy” appies for the holidays!
