About Them

Can you please fully explain your business or product line?

Sprinkled with me and my personality, each piece is thoughtfully designed and carefully handmade. Making quality jewelry fused with delicacy and tasteful detail.

With the local maker community continuing to grow, what makes you stand out from the rest?

Simpleries was born from humble beginnings, from a hobby that would serve as a creative escape from the anxieties that consumed me. It became a form of art I never knew I could create. Being able to share that with people is what drives my motivation to keep creating. From heart to hand, I believe that my pieces personify who I am.

What made you realize that you had a product that could be shared with others?

When I first started Simpleries, I was going through a time in my life that required I find a positive distraction, out of that need I stumbled across jewelry making. Naturally, I would wear the pieces and it’s then that I began to receive compliments on the designs. That’s where the idea sparked; the idea of turning my humble creations into income!

What has been your biggest success as a maker? Biggest struggle you’ve overcome?

My biggest success as a maker isn’t something measured in monetary value, but from the support I’ve received by positive feedback. There is nothing more satisfying than knowing that a complete stranger appreciates your hard work.

I would say the biggest struggle was (and still is) learning how to operate a small business properly and effectively. I find that it’s a learning curve that can always be built on. As the maker of a small handmade business, I have to wear all the hats – from production, to order fulfillment, to marketing, bookkeeping, and the like. And being someone who doesn’t have a background in business makes this project an ever-growing process. The silver lining is…I’m okay with that!

Any advice that you would tell someone hoping to start up their own business or product line?

Being a timid person myself, I’ve come to realize never to let fear hold you back. You can accomplish anything you put your mind to!

Please share any upcoming events (physical events, virtual sales, etc.) that you think Winnipeggers would be interested in!

As a new way to pivot these every changing circumstances, I now offer $3 domestic shipping or free local pick-up to all Winnipeg orders!
