About Them
Can you please fully explain your business or product line?
Prairie Clay is a young jewelry brand embodying a contemporary, ethereal and playful aesthetic. Each and every design is handcrafted right here in Manitoba using the highest quality materials and hypoallergenic backing, so even the most sensitive of ears can wear my designs. Versatile and unique, just like the people of our Prairies.
With the local maker community continuing to grow, what makes you stand out from the rest?
Each and every piece is hand made with so much attention, care, and love in a traditional small-batch slow fashion way. My designs are constantly evolving to embody the prairie spirit and bring beauty to your day. Prairie Clay uses 100% post-consumer and recyclable packaging to ensure no waste is being produced.
Prairie Clay also supports KIDS Inc.; a local non-profit organization supporting children in developing countries.
What made you realize that you had a product that could be shared with others?
I found myself creating jewelry for myself as I was constantly looking for designs that weren’t on the market. I eventually got lots of interest from people in my life and started creating for other people! I decided to put my work out to the world and share my creativity, the rest is a dream come true.
What has been your biggest success as a maker? Biggest struggle you’ve overcome?
Biggest success: Seeing my designs in storefronts and hearing how much my clients love their jewelry! It melts my heart.
Biggest struggle: Creative blocks and imposter syndrome! Constantly pushing myself to my creative limits.
Any advice that you would tell someone hoping to start up their own business or product line?
Be true to yourself! Make what YOU want and do it with love and passion. The rest will fall into place.
Please share any upcoming events (physical events, virtual sales, etc.) that you think Winnipeggers would be interested in!
I will be at the Apple and Pine Market in Brandon on November 28th including my brand new Celestial Collection!
[Editor's Note: The Apple and Pine Market has been tentatively rescheduled for December 12th, 2020, assuming the province moves back to Code Orange by then.]
